Frequently Asked Questions

2D Ultrasound:
Creates a flat two-dimensional still image in black and white. These are generally the “side profile” black and white pictures you receive from the doctors office or your standard ultrasound scans.

3D Ultrasound:
Creates a three-dimensional still image of your baby by combining multiple 2D images, giving you a detailed look at their features.

4D Ultrasound:
A 4D ultrasound adds the element of motion. It’s a live-streaming video of your baby in the womb, allowing you to see their movements and facial expressions in real-time!

5D Ultrasound:
A high-definition ultrasound is an advanced prenatal imaging technique that offers the most detailed and realistic images in the womb building off the 3D/4D technology.

Timing is key to getting the best images of your baby! Here are our recommendations:

  • Moms with an anterior placenta: The ideal window is between 28-31 weeks of pregnancy.
  • All other moms: The best results are typically seen between 29-34 weeks.

These time frames ensure you’ll get clear, detailed views of your baby’s features and movements. Book your appointment during these weeks to make the most of your 3D/4D/5D ultrasound experience!

For twins or multiples, the optimal time to capture amazing 3D/4D/5D images is between 26-30 weeks of pregnancy. This time frame allows for clear and detailed visuals of your little ones.

Of course, you’re always welcome to visit us before or after this window – we’ll do our best to make your experience special no matter when you come!

At Womb Service, we absolutely love capturing the special bond between twins/ and multiples! However, performing a 3D/4D/5D ultrasound for a twin/ multiples pregnancy does take a bit more time and care. Here’s why there’s a small upcharge:

  • Double the Views: We aim to get beautiful images and videos of both babies, which means we need extra time during your session

  • More Equipment Usage: Scanning twins often requires more advanced positioning and image processing, which puts a bit more demand on our equipment

  • Added Expertise: Our sonographers use additional techniques and skill to capture the best possible views of each baby, especially if they’re in tricky positions

We do our best to keep this additional charge minimal while still providing the highest quality experience for you and your growing family. If you’re expecting twins, let us know when booking so we can ensure we allocate enough time to make your session extra special! You can e-mail [email protected]

OF COURSE! With twins or multiples, there’s more to see! We allow extra time to capture clear images of each baby, especially if they’re in different positions. This ensures a relaxed session where every little one gets their spotlight moment on screen.

Our 8K Life is an advanced enhancement for your ultrasound experience, exclusive to Womb Service only, offering unparalleled clarity and lifelike detail. For early ultrasounds (anything 8 weeks or less), you must come to your appointment with a full bladder. A full bladder acts as an acoustic window, enhancing the visualization of the uterus. If you are unsure how far along you are, fill your bladder just to be on the safe side and we will have you empty if we don’t need you full!

For the clearest and most detailed images of your baby, follow these preparation tips:

  • Hydrate: DOUBLE UP on your water per day for at least one week leading up to your appointment. Staying well-hydrated enhances image quality.
  • Avoid eating: Refrain from eating a large meal 1 hour before your appointment for optimal results, this can put baby to sleep!
  • Bring a cold drink: Have something cold with you to sip during the ultrasound – this can help encourage your baby to move for better visuals!

These simple steps will help us capture stunning images of your little one!

Ultrasounds have been performed for decades to view growing babies with no adverse effects reported. Rest assured, only registered diagnostic medical sonographers (RDMS) are performing your ultrasounds, and we incorporate the same rules regarding safety that are used in a medical setting. 3D/4D ultrasounds are medically safe; they use the same frequency as the 2D ultrasounds that are performed by your doctor.
